Anyways, I was doing some last minute packing and I realized I couldn't take my computer with me. Darn I should have bought a laptop...just wasn't thinking. So that means all of my music has to stay here in London while I take the 12 hour plane ride to Seattle. At least I will have my ipod, saving me from airplane music. But I wont be able to upload anymore songs on to my playlist so I thought as an early christmas present I would add some more songs now..just to hold you all over.
So here are some tidbits about the artists that I have added:
- The Delays- I was surfing through the rub, a music blog (you can find a link on my link list) and they had this listed as one of their favorite albums for 2004. Well just to see what all the hoop la was about I decided to download some songs. I put two of my favorites up. They really have a sound all their own, though it has been commented that they sound like a mix of the Hollies and Radiohead but listen to them and decide for yourself.
- The Duke Spirit- I decided to head into HMV after school one day, very convienent since its right across the street. I went to one of the listening stations and just started pushing buttons and thats how I first found out about The Duke Spirit..not very romantic but I remember just knowing I had to have it.
- Songs:Ohia- The hard part was chosing the song to put on my playlist since at any given time I have at least three. This song starts out simply just the guitar and a voice. But what a voice, an instrument in itself. It tugs and sways and you can just picture him sitting on a stool, with his eyes closed playing. This song inspires, the lyrics are strong but the sound is what moves you.
- Patty Griffin- I loved the Rowing song by this girl so I needed to find more of her and I stumbled across "You are not alone". Her music is country folk and thats not really my type of music, but when you hear the first words of this song and how she wraps them around the music of the guitar, you will be hooked too. I must warn you that its a slow and a little sad.
- The Honorary Title- Another break up song, I know. But you will like this one. Its not really my favorite of theirs ...they have other cool ones but for some reason I can't stop playing it. I think its because it starts out kind of slow and then all the confusion he has surprises you by exploding out. It still surprises me sometimes. So listen to the whole thing.
- The Reindeer Section - I don't know why I didnt put their songs up yesterday especially with the love I have for their music...Thanks Susan for setting me straight...I really love this band and how could I not its made up of artists from other bands that I heart. Gary Lightbody and Jonny Quinn from Snow Patrol, John Cummings (Mogwai), Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap), Richard Colburn and Mick Cooke (Belle & Sebastian), Colin MacIntyre (Mull Historical Society), Jenny Reeve (Eva), Willie Campbell and Charlie Clarke (Astrid) and I only put up three of their songs..trust me this is a record worth the money.
- The Perishers- You didn't think there wouldn't be a song from them on here..again.. did you? This is another duet. I just love it.
Ok I wish you all a Merry Christmas now in case I don't have a chance before the holidays. I hope Santa brings you all some amazing cd's!!
